Probablemente todas habréis visto mil veces las conchas caurí (también llamadas caorí), pero seguramente no todas sabréis que ése es el nombre que reciben. 

Hace muchos años que sentí interés por estas conchas, que se usan para hacer pulseras, collares y también se emplean en bolsos o zapatos. Sin embargo, ése es el uso que tiene hoy día pues hace un tiempo se usaron como monedas en la India y en otros lugares de África, Asia y el Pacífico. Desde que lo descubrí, el caurí ha tenido aún más valor para mí y tengo varios abalorios con esta concha. Mi “joya” caurí más preciada es un collar que compré hace dos años en Nueva York. Lo más curioso es que lo encontré en H&M, pero aquí en España no lo había visto. Total, que ya que habéis aprendido algo nuevo sobre los caurís, sólo me queda enseñaros el collar.

Probably all of you have seen a thousand times cowry shells, but certainly not all know that that is the name given. Many years ago I felt an interest in these shells, which are used to make bracelets, necklaces and also used in handbags or shoes. However, that is the use it has today as it was once used as currency in India and elsewhere in Africa, Asia and the Pacific. Since I discovered, the cowry has had even more value to me and I have several beads with this shell. My “jewel” more precious cowry is a necklace I bought two years ago in New York. The strange thing is that I found at H & M, but in Spain had not seen him. Total, which you learned something new about the cowries, I can only show you the necklace.
